PALM SUNDAY

With waving palm branches let us adore the Lord as he comes; let us go to meet him with hymns and songs, rejoicing and singing: Blessed be the Lord.

Ride on, ride on in majesty!
In lowly pomp ride on to die;
bow thy meek head to mortal pain,
then take, O God, thy pow'r and reign.

The Procession to the Altar of Repose

Who in the same night that he was betrayed, that is this night, took Bread and when he had given thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take, eat, this is my Body which is given for you: Do this in Remembrance of me.  Likewise after supper he took the Cup and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of this, for this is my Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the remission of sins: Do this, as oft as ye shall drink it, in remembrance of me.

Book of Common Prayer, 1984)

GOOD FRIDAY

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:16)

The Altar of Repose,
Good Friday
The Altar of Repose, Good Friday
O sacred head, surrounded by crown of piercing thorn!
O bleeding head, so wounded,
So shamed and put to scorn!
Death's pallid hue comes o'er thee,
The glow of life decays;
Yet angel hosts adore thee,
And tremble as they gaze.

The Prostration
The Prostration

Thy comeliness and vigour
Is withered up and gone,
And in thy wasted figure
I see death drawing on.
O agony and dying!
O love to sinners free!
Jesu, all grace supplying,
Turn thou thy face on me.

The Veneration of The Cross

In this thy bitter passion,
Good Shepherd, think of me
With thy most sweet compassion,
Unworthy though I be:
Beneath thy cross abiding
For ever would I rest,
In thy dear love confiding,
And with thy presence blest.

Holy Communion
Holy Communion

Though he was in the form of God,
Jesus did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped.
He emptied himself,
taking the form of a servant,
being born in the likenes of men.
And being found in human form,
he humbled himself and became obedient unto death,
even death on a cross.
Therefore God has highly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name which is above every name,
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
And every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father
(Phil 2:6-11)
