The Annual Rogationtide ‘Blessing of the Waters’ was held at Newport Dock on 8th May 2005.

The service, led by Fr. Edward Mathias-Jones (Vicar of S. Stephen and Mission to Seafarers Honorary Port Chaplain), commenced at the Mission to Seafarers, Chapel of S. Peter.  Prayers were said for an increase in the harvest of the sea and for the safety and welfare of seafarers.  Following a homily by Bishop Dominic Walker OGS, we processed to the dockside, where Bishop Dominic called down God’s Blessing upon the waters.

This year we were joined by Revd. J. Mole and S. Thomas, Maesglas and Revd. M. Le Grice, Chaplain to the Deaf and The Newport and Cardiff Deaf Churches.  The service was signed by Mrs Betty Powell.
